I settled on ketchup and Sriracha. As much as I love maple syrup, I just couldn't put it on ham & cheese. So, I chose instead to suspend the belief that my bread was French toast and all was well.

If you check out their menu online, you'll see that they have an impressive salad section, along with a generous offering of sides such as kale and quinoa. I wasn't dining with my healthiest friends this go 'round; these were the fun ones. ;-)Abby Beanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03060920122127099172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-710373573705518216.post-33450352068776290372012-03-25T14:21:09.936-07:002012-03-25T14:21:09.936-07:00Bean, as always, great review. I was only there once and I wasn't impressed.

What else does the menu offer? You mentioned that even your "healthier" friends rave about it, but nothing in the review meets my standard of "healthy"BYOLhttp://bringyourownlentils.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-710373573705518216.post-22412932143374266622012-03-23T07:16:17.424-07:002012-03-23T07:16:17.424-07:00Andrea- I'm not sure about the foam, but even ...Andrea- I'm not sure about the foam, but even though I'm not a foam person it was impressive.

I appreciate that you don't think I'm just a "Mean Bean" in my reviews; I've been accused (at Champs, in fact) of being very critical.

I think the biscuits & gravy/white gravy deal it is a coast thing (although both of my fellow diners are native NYers) and I just can't do it. My gravy is always brown and it goes on mashed potatoes!

I factor in an extra ten minutes of every meal to clean every jar/bottle/receptacle I use and I still can't seem to get as clean as Champs spotless condiment containers...

foodfeud- I was really impressed by your reviews!

I think the Monte Cristo jam is usually served on the side- perhaps in an effort for the pectin to counter all of the fried fat?

I don't necessarily think your mom is to blame for absconding with the cookie; you should have bought at least two!

I'd love to have a masquerade meetup ;-)Abby Beanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03060920122127099172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-710373573705518216.post-76169411431787810992012-03-22T21:11:12.252-07:002012-03-22T21:11:12.252-07:00I am so happy you liked it this time! I had no idea there was usually jam in it... And YES I also thought the place was pretty spotless which is a big plus. When I visited with my mom, I persuaded her to pick up one of those ranibow cookies BUT SHE LEFT WITH IT AND I DIDN'T GET TO TASTE IT! I am so bummed.
Very nice photos - the menu, exterior, and meals. Obviously you are much more practiced at being in public than I.
I feel like we should plan to meet up at Champs one day, but both wear masks as to preserve our faceless identities, and our shame of eating so much delicious food.foodfeudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00589414740603993442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-710373573705518216.post-19133497789541689052012-03-22T15:40:04.947-07:002012-03-22T15:40:04.947-07:00What did they make the foam on your latté out of? ...What did they make the foam on your latté out of? I love your restaurant reviews — you're totally honest and enthusiastic in both your praise or reproach. Champs sounds like a winner in all respects.

Is it because I'm from the East Coast that I never understood the white gravy or the biscuits 'n gravy thing? Gravy is supposed to be brown, isn't it?

BTW, the sriracha bottle in our fridge would be banished from Champs. I'm going to go clean it right now.Andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16146578985330272891noreply@blogger.com
